Social Butterflies | Ages 2 - 5 | Summer
What are the weekly friends clubs all about?
Our friends clubs provide children with opportunities to explore making friends in a setting with regulated adults that can provide support for helping children reach their greatest capacity in social conversations, interactions, and participation.
We don't call our groups "social skills." All child activities are social! Children don't need us to design social situations for them; they need opportunities to meet other children in environments that have regulated adults to provide them with specific and supportive interactions when the need for problem-solving arises. This allows for them to continue in their social engagement in a way that allows them to form connections and learn not only about others but also about themselves in friendships.
Our clubs allow for shared interests and differences in preferences in order to explore how to manage those in real time with licensed therapists as guides.
Who are friends clubs for?
These clubs are appropriate for young people who might be receiving individual therapeutic intervention but are struggling with connection in other settings. They might also be appropriate for young people who have maximized their benefit in individual therapy sessions and would benefit from the group setting to further develop participation and ease in groups. Lastly, we welcome children who are having difficulty connecting in larger groups and could benefit from participating in smaller settings to build confidence.
